Western Marine Power buys OrcaThis move, which took six months to complete, is part of a wider strategic plan to expand the company and follows on from last year's expansion in forming the mobile service Allboat Services (ABS).
"The purchase exploits the natural synergies between our two companies and enables us to provide a complete care package to the boating public and their cherished investements," says Nick Nutt, MD of WMP.
Orca, which is based in Plymouth, Devon, offers a wide range of non-abrasive, eco-friendly cleaning products for boats. As part of the deal, WMP now owns the licence for Orca's Absolute Boat Care (ABC) system for exclusive use in soutwest England.
Orca will also be able to take advantage of the state-of-the-art facilities that WMP boats at its base at Plymouth Yacht Haven on the Mount Batten Peninsula. These include a climate-controlled workshop, a covered facility that accepts vessels up to 30m (98ft), and a travel hoist capable of lifting boats of up to 65 tonnes.
