Custom Boat Building
A move into custom boat building is an area Western Marine Power has enjoyed over the past 15 years. Examples of bespoke projects undertaken are:A luxurious catamaran for diving and sports fishing
A Swiss businessman had carried out extensive research into boatyards around the world to find the right company for his project: The Flying Manta: a boatyard that would be small enough to take on a custom contract and yet large enough to have the resources and expertise to deal with such a complex and ever evolving project. He found that company in Britain, in the West Country: Western Marine Power Ltd.
The boat is the design of well-known Australian naval architects, Crowther Design, built with custom detail. “The owner had very clear requirements and knew exactly what he was looking for. Having designed many of the features for the Flying Manta himself and with a keen interest in diving and fishing he knew precisely what he wanted on his boat and where!”
A dream cruising vessel
Work on a Colvic 62 was commissioned by a local businessman. When the owner placed an order with Colvic for a 'motor-away' version of the 62, he had hoped to bring it to Western Marine Power for custom-fitting of the accommodation, however following the liquidation of Colvic, he emerged with just the hull of his boat and no engines. Western Marine Power undertook the total build and fitting out of the hull which included electrical mechanical, electronics, carpentry: the complete package.
All projects undertaken are assigned a dedicated project manager to co ordinate the build.
